LSMR 409 Gettysburg, Pennsylvania
Reunion
September 28 - September 30, 2005

The 2005 reunion is over and from all the
responses I have received, it was a giant success.
Everyone was so impressed with the Gettysburg
area, first of all, the beauty of the surrounding country-side,
and second, the Civil War history and how to this day, you can almost see the
tremendous battle that took place there for
three bloody days as you tour the battlefield.
The real high point was the bus tour to
Washington, DC. We departed Gettysburg at 7:30 AM and arrived
at Arlington National Cemetery. There we witnessed the "Changing Of The
Guard" at the Tomb Of The Unknown. I
wish everyone in the United States could see this ceremony, it makes you proud
to be an American. After that we toured the WW II, Korean, and Vietnam
Memorials. All were very impressive.
A group meeting was held to determine the site of
the 2006 reunion and it was agreed that "BRANSON, MO." would be a
great location. Mr Leo Kelley will host the event which will also be in
September 2006. It was also suggested the reunion be extended to 4 days
instead of the usual 3 days, this was agreed to.
Watch your E-Mail and mark your calendar for a
good time with your SHIPMATES at Branson, Mo.
